  • In the last 24 hours, 91 (M-51, F-40) persons from general population and 39 persons from Central Armed Police Force(CAPF) were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases. All the 87 persons except 4 returnees from other states, are locals without any significant travel history. The state tally rises to 4112. The numbers of active and recovered cases are 1804 and 2295 respectively with a recovery rate of 55.81 percent.
  • One Covi-19 related death has been reported in the state today and so total number of Covid related death reaches 13.

  • One Police Personnel from Mayang Imphal of Imphal west district, aged about 37 years who was admitted in the RIMS Covid Care Centre on 2nd August, 2020 as suffering from shortness of breath, cough with mild fever and was under Covid treatment died today morning. He reportedly had no other medical conditions so far. So death toll in the state reaches 13.

  • Coronavirus/Covid-19 Community Transmission Stage 1 is declared confirmed in Manipur by the State Technical Expert Committee. The committee also resolved to recommend the same to the Government of Manipur for immediate notification to the general public and further necessary actions accordingly, in a meeting presided over by K Rajo, Director of health, Goverment of Manipur, held today at Directorate's building.

Lockdown has been extended for another 7 days with some relaxation in the opening of local based retail shops dealing with essential items such as groceries for daily use, vegetables, fruits, milk booths, poultry meat and fish only. Khwairakpam Sanatomba, a 15 years old boy who was undergoing treatment for chronic kidney ailment at RIMS and also confirmed positive for COVID-19, was a resident of Phubala Ward No. 4 of Bishnupur district.

JNIMS Assures Quality Food for Covid Patients

JNIMS Authority has announced Breakfast for Covid-19 patients will be improved by providing one boiled egg, one small packet of biscuit and one litre of packaged drinking water.

Rice, dal, vegetable curry, eggs, fish curry and one litre of packaged drinking water will be provided for lunch and the same with one litre of additional water for dinner, the report added.

  • Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, JNIMS Casualty Department has been declared shut down for 48 hours as a man from Lilong of Thoubal district who was hiding his Contact history and Covid Status but later known that his brother who was accompanying him to the hospital and looking after him tested positive for Covid-19. All necessary medical precautionary measues like disinfection of the premises, contact tracing and containment are ordered by the authority.

  • Due to fear of possible community transmission in the state, a strict ban has been enforced on the sale of liquor, local wine, drinking and partying, gambling in all the areas within the state with immediate effect. Shri N. Biren Singh has appealed all the CSOs, local clubs and women organisations (Meira Paibi Groups) in Manipur to support the move and he also appeals the people to report all such illigal activities to the nearest police  station.

  • Manipur, CM, Shri N Biren Singh inaugurated and operationalised the new 300 bedded Covid Care centre at Manipur Trade & Expo Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong today. This facility may be further upgraded to a 1000 bedded one as per needs.
  • "People,s support is of immense importance at this difficult time in tackling the pandemic. I appeal to my people to please come out openly for early treatment instead of cocealing their Covid-19 status if tested positive," said N. Biren Singh while inaugurating this new Covid care Centre.

  • “Today, one female aged 20 from Chandel district and temporary home at Imphal East expired due to co-morbid health conditions and Covidd-19,” said Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director and spokesperson of the health department in a press release on Sunday evening. “The cumulative number of Covid-19 related deaths is now seven.”
  • Meanwhile, 61 new cases from the general population and 14 security personnel belonging to the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested positive for Covid-19 in the state in the past 24 hours. The total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 2,831. The active cases are 1087 while the recovered cases are 1737, an official release said.
  • Thoudam Ramananda Singh, S/o Th. Megha Singh of Kakwa Makha Nameirakpam Leikai, Imphal East district working as DI Driver at City Police Station, Imphal West was confirmed as Covid-19 positive. Further testing of all other police personnel posted at this station are underway.
  • "Manipur now experiences the begining of Covid-19 Community Transmission,"- Health Experts.
  • The Manipur government is yet to announce community transmission in the state, but it has already started, Speaker Y Khemchand said in Imphal on Sunday.

  • A 76 year old man from Chakpikarong of Chandel district who was also suffering from chronic diabetes and hapatitis was reported dead at Catholic Medical Centre, CMC, Koirengei, Imphal. Later his sample for Covid-19 was sent for testing and confirmed positive. Now Covid-19 related death toll reaches 6 in the state.
  • In view of increasing number of Covid-19 patients in the state, CM, N Biren Singh declared that Manipur Trade & Expo Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong will be utilized as 300 bedded Covid Care Centre and will be functional in couple of days. He also added that capacity may be increased to 1000 beds as per requirement in coming days.
  • Today, 135 persons from different areas have been confirmed positive for Covid-19; So cumulative total is 2756 among which 1699 persons are recovered, 1051 are active cases and death toll rises to 6. No further Covid related fatality is reported till late today.

  • A 38 year old man from Lilong Khunou of Thoubal District who was referred from Covid Care Centre, Thoubal was reported dead due to Covid-19 at JNIMS Hospital, Imphal this morning which makes death toll due to Covid-19 reaching 5 in the state.
  • A total of 116 persons (97 M, 19F) were confirmed  as new Covid-19 positive cases at VRDLs of RIMS-54, JNIMS-61, Babina Diagnostics-1. Now the total number of cases in the state is 2621. The number of active and recovered cases are 931 and 1689 respectively.

30th July, 2020 

  • A 60-year-old man from Thoubal district, who was tested positive for COVID-19, has also been reported dead at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Hospital in Imphal on Thursday, being the third death due to the virus in less than 24 hours in Manipur.
  • The deceased, a resident of Moijing, was brought to JNIMS on Thursday with difficulties in breathing and loose motion at the casualty department. His sample was conducted COVID-19 testing at VRDL of JNIMS and diagnosed with positive case.
  • However, as per the official statement issued by additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, the patient later succumbed to the disease around 4:55 pm.
  • Earlier in the day, two more patients at RIMS Hospital, a 48-year-old man from Leimakhong of Kangpokpi and a 47-year-old male patient from Langol area of Imphal West, were declared dead due to co-morbid health conditions and COVID-19.
