Covid pandemic has made a new turn with possibility of community transmission in two districts and finding a positive case at CM secretariat.

To stop further spread of disease, toal lockdown imposed for the forth day today. Covid cases without travel history have been increased daily and the government by a consultative committee meeting on Saturday has decided to tighten the noose around the virus by imposing an stringent lockdown.

A person working in the Covid-19 Common Control Room opened at the CM Secretariat was found positive on Saturday and the entire area was sanitised after detecting such a case. Tracing of the contacts of the persons were going on and many staff of the secretariat will be tested.

Meanwhile mass testing of the staff of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, JNIMS has started this morning as a precautionary measure.

As of Saturday, 315,654 people were screened at various entry points of the State while 76,992 samples were tested for COVID-19, sources added.

As per the report, 59,327 people have completed their quarantine while 3,046 were still at various quarantine centres in the State.

Meanwhile, the state consultative committee for COVID-19 meeting held in Imphal on Saturday decided to tighten the lockdown in the State.

The meeting was attended by chief minister N Biren Singh in the chair.
