As the country enters its 24th day of the nationwide lockdown, the tally of positive cases crosses 14,000 while the number of reported deaths is at 455. Maharashtra and Delhi remain the worst hit with the number of positive cases crossing 3,000 and 1,600, respectively.

Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal said there has been a 40 per cent decline in the growth of cases in the country and pointed out that the doubling rate of the virus has come down to 6.2 days from 3 after lockdown.

On Friday evening, Rajasthan became the first state in the country to carry out rapid testing for COVID-19. At 5 pm today, 52 persons were tested at an urban PHC in Jaipur. All of them tested negative.

Ratio between recovered Covid-19 patients and deaths stands at 80:20 in India, which is higher than in several other countries, said health ministry.

The figures are less staggering as they look. According to the health ministry data on Friday morning, 13,387 patients have recovered from the disease since the outbreak. Last week, the number of discharged patients were 1,748. This shows that nearly 13% of Covid-19 patients recovered across India this week. This was a significant increase from the 8% last week.
