Manipur's third Covid-19 patient, who returned from Mumbai on May 13 by a hired private vehicle has been kept in JNIMS's isolation ward to undergo required treatment. The District Rapid Response Teams(RRTs) and Surveillance Teams have been constituted in all the districts, including 40 Sub-surveillance Teams in each district and Covid-19 treatment blocks at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) are in high alert and readiness as a preparatory arrangement.
Quarantining of returning persons for 14 days and social distancing by all remains vital to break the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
He was kept in quarantine centre after reaching Imphal on Wednesday. His sample was tested on Thursday at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal, where it was found to be positive for COVID-19.
According to sources, the man had returned from Mumbai where his father was treated for cancer. Unfortunately, his 48-year-old mother succumbed to COVID-19 in Mumbai last week.
Earlier, Manipur registered two COVID19 positive cases, but of the patients were discharged from two government hospitals in Imphal after their recovery.
With the new case, Manipur currently has only one active COVID19 case.
After their release from the hospitals, the state was declared a COVID-9-free state and all the districts of Manipur were included in green zone.
