CORONAVIRUS MANIPUR : All Government/Private Schools to be shut Till March 31
All the government and private schools will be closed in Manipur till 31st March in order to ensure reduction of mass gatherings and to avoid spread of the disease.
After declaring COVID-19 as an epidemic, Manipur Government declares all the government and private schools will be closed in Manipur till 31st March in order to ensure reduction of mass gatherings and to avoid spread of the disease.
The state needs to exercise abundant caution to contain the disease. All schools in the state will be shut until 31st March, but exams of BOSEM and COHSEM will continue as scheduled. "People are advised to stay away from public gatherings," chief minister N. Biren Singh said.
Recently Union Home minister Amit Shah agreed to include the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, JNIMS, the state’s only medical college, as a testing centre for Coronavirus/COVID-19 in Imphal. Now JNIMS has become the first and only testing centre for COVID-19 in the state.
The Manipur government's move came as the number of people affected by coronavirus in the country rose to 73, Kerala had the most cases -- 17. Several states, including Kerala, have also shut educational institutions and crowded places like cinema halls.
In Maharashtra, where 10 cases have been reported, the government has banned ticket sales for the 2020 Indian Premier League opener between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The match was to be held on March 29.
