BENELLI recently launched the BS6-compliant TRK 502 in India, that retails alongside the brand’s only other BS6 motorcycle- the Imperiale 400. So here we tell you all that you need to know about the new Benelli TRK 502.
A BS6-compliant engine
Addressing the obvious first, the Benelli TRK 502’s 499cc, parallel-twin engine is now cleaner and complies with the strict BS6 emission norms. However, the transition has not dulled the performance figures and the motorcycle continues to offer 46.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 46Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
As part of the update, the new TRK 502 comes with backlit switchgear, aluminum frame knuckle guards, new handlebar grips as well as larger mirrors. Moreover, the layout of the digital instrument cluster is now revised. It features an orange LCD with a white backlit analogue tachometer.
Benelli has retained the styling of the previous model. So, the adventure-touring motorcycle sports a distinctive snout-like mudguard and aggressive looking twin-pod headlamp. The motorcycle also comes with a large windscreen that partially wraps around the handlebar for better wind buffeting. Meanwhile, the design of the large fuel-tank is busy, but gives the TRK 502 a unique look. At the rear, the motorcycle comes with a split seat setup and a luggage rack as standard.
Now despite the changes made to the BS6 variant, Benelli has priced the TRK 502 at Rs 4.79 lakh, ex-showroom which makes it Rs 30,000 more affordable than the previous model that was priced at Rs 5.10 lakh. As for competition, the Benelli TRK 502 goes up against the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT in the country.
The Benelli TRK 502 is offered in three colour schemes– Metallic Dark Grey, Pure White, and Benelli Red. The Benelli Red and Pure White colours are priced at a premium of Rs 10,000 over the Metallic Dark Grey paint, and are available at Rs 4.89 lakh.
